Highlights for this year's meeting include presentations from our three guest speakers Dr. R. Clement Darling, III, Dr. Jason T. Lee, and Dr. Cynthia K. Shortell; the Resident/Fellow competition for the Robert B. Smith, III, MD Award; and the Presidential Address.
The Spouse's Hospitality Breakfast is open to the Physician’s guests/spouses that register in advance. Breakfast will be served on Saturday & Sunday from 8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. in the Tupelo Room. Kids are welcome too! Be sure to register in order to receive your tickets.
The Welcome Reception will be held on Friday evening, September 6 from 6:00–7:00 p.m. in the Pavilion. This is a time to reunite with friends, colleagues and industry in a casual, social atmosphere. Enjoy hors d' oeuvres and an open beer & wine bar before dinner on your own.
In an effort to create the most cost-effective golf outing that is enjoyable for everyone, we have reserved tee times on Saturday, September 7, beginning at 2:00 pm. We will coordinate foursomes at either of the following courses:
The Oconee Course: $235+/player (on property; price includes a mandatory forecaddie) NOTE: The cost for forecaddies is included in the greens fee but individual golfers are responsible for tipping forecaddies. $25 per golfer is recommended but the amount should be based on the level of service.
The National Course: $190+/player (5-minute drive from hotel; hotel offers free shuttle)

GVS will hold the 3rd Annual Sporting Clays Tournament on Saturday, September 7 starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds. The fee includes lunch, 20 stations/100 targets, safety equipment, Beretta shotguns, ammo, and a certified instructor per group of 5 and one all - terrain vehicle per group of 5. Please feel free to bring your own gun and eye & ear protection if you wish. Closed toe shoes are a must. The first-place team will receive prizes and the high overall winner gets their name placed on the perpetual trophy! Please register in advance; the fee is $195 per person.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa is offering a 10% discount to GVS attendees off the full priced spa menu (not available with any other discounts or spa packages). The President’s Tailgate Party starts at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7. The Tailgate Party is a family-friendly event with plenty of football on the large screens, yard games and food & drinks for people of all ages! Attire is casual–wear your favorite team shirt! Please register in advance; the fee is $75 for adults, $50 ages 13-20, and $25 for children 12 and under.
The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee has three restaurants on property.

Overnight valet parking for GVS hotel guests has been discounted to $20/night. If you choose to pay the resort fee, valet parking is complementary (see optional resort fee details below). Daytime parking for drive-ins is $10/day.

Sporting Events: GOLF: attire for men includes mandatory collared shirt, long pants or Bermuda length shorts; women may wear sleeveless shirts, shorts or skirts with 4” max above the knee or slacks. Unacceptable attire: t-shirts, tank tops, athletic shorts, short shorts, cut-offs or denim. Metal spikes are not allowed.
Sporting Clays: No open-toe footwear allowed. The sporting grounds will provide safety equipment: hearing & eye protection and shooting vests.
